 The accommodation scene is Queenstown is especially seasonal and hotels are at their most expensive in the busy summer peak period. Lodging in Queenstown is also at a premium in the busy ski season, when the town becomes something of a leading New Zealand winter resort.
Hotels overlooking the shoreline of Lake Wakatipu are amongst the most desirable, although you will certainly have to pay extra for hotel rooms with a view. Groups or families searching for holiday homes or apartments will find that the Queenstown Accommodation Centre on Shotover Street should always be the first port of call. However, during the busiest times, a minimum stay of one week is usually required.

If you are a budget traveller or backpacker, looking for cheap B&B accommodation in Queenstown, then the lakeside Comfort Inn Melbourne Lodge on Melbourne Street is a good choice, being just a four-minute stroll from the town centre.
The Queenstown YHA on the Lake Esplanade also offers a good standard of lodging, with further cheap accommodation available along Anderson Heights, Frankton Road, Hamilton Road, Spence Road and Thompson Street. Slightly more upmarket and located along Sainsbury Road is the Queenstown Lodge.
 Close to the Coronet Peak and lying within Arthurs Point is the Coronet Alpine Hotel, which is always much favoured by skiers, being connected to central Queenstown by regular shuttles.
Other very notable Queenstown hotels include the Browns Boutique on Isle Street, and the Heritage resort on Fernhill Road. Close to the Heritage, the Aspen Queenstown is one of the town's most popular hotels and features plush apartment-style accommodation, with spectacular views of Lake Wakatipu and also the Remarkables mountain range.
